We were delighted to support a recent awards event at HMP Portland, celebrating individuals who are working hard to build employability skills and prepare for a positive fresh start.
By donating prizes for the event, the W&S Foundation was proud to play a small part in recognising commitment, progress and personal achievement. Events like this matter — they show that effort is noticed, milestones are worth celebrating, and that local organisations genuinely believe in second chances.
The awards ceremony brought together learners and staff to recognise progress made through training, education and personal development. The atmosphere was uplifting and motivational, reinforcing the message that a brighter future is possible with the right support and encouragement.
HMP Portland shared the following message with us after the event:
“This event celebrated individuals developing employability skills and preparing for a fresh start.
Your continuous support towards the rehabilitation of our learners demonstrates the power of local businesses in creating second chances and building stronger communities. Thank you for helping us inspire change through meaningful opportunities.”
They also added:
“We are deeply grateful to W&S Foundation for their incredibly generous support. Your contribution helped make our awards event truly special and demonstrated to those in custody that employers believe in their potential and future. We value this partnership and look forward to continuing our work together with W&S throughout 2026.”
We’re incredibly proud of this partnership and the impact it continues to have. Supporting rehabilitation, employability and confidence-building sits at the heart of what we do, and we look forward to continuing our work with HMP Portland throughout the year ahead.
